Washer & Dryer Repair
Top-load and front-load washers, gas and electric dryers, and stacked laundry units. Most laundry failures are mechanical, such as a pump, a belt, a door lock or a heating element, and many show an error code. If the display shows a code, write it down before you book.

Gas safety. If you smell gas near a gas dryer, do not use it or any light switches. Leave the house and call your gas utility first. We repair the dryer once the gas company says the area is safe.
What is your washer & dryer doing?
The most common problems we see, and what usually causes them.
Washer: water stays in the drum
A clogged pump filter, a sock or coin in the drain pump, a kinked drain hose or a failed pump motor.
Washer: will not spin, or bangs on spin
A door or lid lock that does not engage, a worn belt or motor coupling, worn tub bearings or broken suspension.
Washer: leaking under the machine
A torn door boot on a front-loader, a loose hose clamp, a cracked pump housing or a failing tub seal.
Dryer: runs but does not heat
A failed heating element or thermal fuse on electric dryers, or the igniter or gas valve coils on gas dryers.
Dryer: clothes still damp after a cycle
A restricted vent or lint path, a weak heater, or a moisture sensor that ends the cycle too early.
Dryer: drum will not turn, or squeals
A broken drive belt, a worn idler pulley or drum rollers, or a motor that hums but does not start.

Washer & Dryer questions
My dryer takes two cycles to dry. Is it the dryer or the vent?
Often the vent. A long, crushed or lint-packed vent slows the airflow, so the clothes stay damp and the dryer runs hot. We check the airflow along with the heater and sensors, and tell you if the vent needs cleaning.
Can I drain the washer myself before you come?
On many front-loaders you can, through the small access door at the bottom front, with towels and a shallow pan ready. If you are not comfortable doing it, leave the water for the technician.
Do you repair stacked washer-dryer units?
Yes. Stacked pairs and one-piece laundry centers use the same parts as separate machines. Some repairs mean separating or sliding the unit out, so leave a little room in front of it if you can.
What should I tell you when I book?
Which machine has the problem, the brand and model number from the label, any error code, and when it goes wrong: filling, washing, draining, spinning, heating or tumbling.
