Microwave Repair
Over-the-range, built-in, drawer and countertop microwaves. A microwave can hold a dangerous high-voltage charge even when it is unplugged, so internal repairs belong with a technician.

What is your microwave doing?
The most common problems we see, and what usually causes them.
Runs but does not heat
A failed magnetron, high-voltage diode or capacitor, or a blown high-voltage fuse.
Sparks inside
A damaged waveguide cover, chipped paint inside the cavity, or metal left in the oven.
Turntable does not turn
A failed turntable motor, a broken coupler or a worn roller ring.
Dead display, will not start
A blown line fuse, a failed door switch or a control board fault.
Door or drawer will not close or open
A broken latch or hinge, or on drawer models, the drawer motor or rails.
Vent fan or light not working
On over-the-range models: the vent fan motor, a light socket or the control that runs them.

Microwave questions
Is it safe to keep using a microwave that sparks?
No. Sparking can damage the magnetron and the cavity. Stop using it, unplug it and book a visit.
Is a microwave worth repairing?
A small countertop unit often is not, and we will tell you so. Over-the-range, built-in and drawer models cost more to replace and install, so a repair usually makes sense.
Can I replace the fuse myself?
We do not recommend it. A blown fuse usually has a cause, such as a failed door switch, and the parts behind the cover can hold a dangerous charge.
