Refrigerator Repair
Most refrigerator calls come down to airflow, defrost or a control part. We test the fans, the defrost circuit, the compressor start parts and the control board in your kitchen, and tell you which part failed before anything is replaced.

What is your refrigerator doing?
The most common problems we see, and what usually causes them.
Fresh-food section is warm, freezer is cold
Usually a frosted-over evaporator coil or a stopped evaporator fan, so cold air no longer reaches the lower compartment.
Not cooling at all
A compressor that will not start, a failed start relay, a stopped condenser fan or a control board that no longer sends power.
Ice maker stopped
A frozen fill tube, a failed water inlet valve, a clogged water filter or a faulty ice maker module.
Water on the floor or under the crispers
A blocked defrost drain, a cracked drain pan, or a leaking water line or valve connection.
Clicking, buzzing or loud fan
Fan blades hitting ice, a worn fan motor, or a compressor that tries to start and shuts off again.
Frost building up inside
A door gasket that no longer seals, a door that does not close fully, or a failure in the automatic defrost system.

Refrigerator questions
How cold should a refrigerator be?
The FDA recommends 40°F or below in the fresh-food section and 0°F in the freezer. If yours has been warmer than that for more than a few hours, move perishable food to a cooler with ice.
Should I unplug it before the technician arrives?
Leave it running unless it is leaking badly or smells of burning. A running unit shows the technician what is happening. If ice has built up, do not chip it out with a knife or screwdriver: that can puncture the tubing.
What can I check before booking?
Make sure the air vents inside are not blocked by food, the temperature control was not turned down by accident, and the coils under or behind the unit are not packed with dust. If all of that looks fine, book a visit.
