Range & Oven Repair
Freestanding and slide-in ranges: gas, electric and dual-fuel, including double-oven models. This page covers the oven, the broiler and the controls. For built-in ovens, see Wall Oven Repair. For burners and elements on top, see Cooktop Repair.

Gas safety. If you smell gas, do not use the appliance or any light switches. Leave the house and call your gas utility first. We repair the appliance once the gas company says the area is safe.
What is your range & oven doing?
The most common problems we see, and what usually causes them.
Oven will not heat
A failed bake element or gas igniter, a gas safety valve, or a relay on the control board.
Wrong temperature
A faulty temperature sensor, an element that heats only partly, or a calibration that has drifted.
Error code on the display
Codes usually point to a sensor, the door lock or the control board. Note the code when you book.
Door locked after self-clean
A failed door lock motor or switch, often right after a self-clean cycle.
Broiler not working
A failed broil element on electric models, or the broil igniter on gas models.
Warming drawer or second oven cold
On double-oven and warming-drawer models, each section has its own element, sensor and control circuit.

Range & Oven questions
Why does my gas oven take so long to light, or not light at all?
Many gas ovens use a glowing igniter that must get hot enough before the gas valve opens. A weak igniter can glow but never open the valve, so the oven stays cold. It is one of the most common oven repairs.
Should I run self-clean to deal with smoke or a smell?
Not as a first step. Self-clean runs very hot, and it is a common time for elements, fuses and door locks to fail. Wipe out spills instead and use self-clean sparingly.
Do you repair double-oven ranges?
Yes. Each oven has its own element or burner, temperature sensor and control circuit, so we test the one that is not working separately from the other.
